Design Sprint
Design Sprint is a process for collaboratively exploring, refining, validating ideas & minimizing risk and getting alignment across the team.
There are two types of Design Sprint:
- The Double Diamond Design Process- the ideal process when the company has enough budget and enough time.
- Guerrilla Design Sprint- the sprint when there is not enough budget and not enough time. Examples are that we need to find respondents for our research on a budget- interview friends and family or interview strangers in public (coffee shop, coworking spaces, conferences, meet-ups..).
Companies use nowadays the 5-day Design Sprint where the goal is to test ideas quickly and see if the solution will be success or failure without losing business’ money. The week looks shortly as following:
Monday- find out the problem and focus on the most important one
Tuesday- paper sketches of solutions
Wednesday- decide what solution to go with and turn it into a testable hypothesis
Thursday- prototyping
Friday- testing with beta users
There is a book written by Jake Knapp “Sprint: How to solve big problems and test new ideas in just five days” in the market about the whole 5-week design sprint in detail.
